Discover the maritime industry
Game for Science is a free multiplayer virtual world built entirely around science, technology and educational play. Rather than a conventional game site, it presents a shared digital environment where learners of different ages can step inside themed areas, follow guided activities, and encounter scientific concepts through exploration. The emphasis falls on discovery rather than memorisation: students move at their own pace, revisit activities, and connect classroom topics with visible, hands-on contexts that make abstract ideas more tangible and memorable.
The portals act as the organising structure of this virtual world. Each one is a self-contained environment devoted to a particular scientific theme, so a visitor can choose the domain that matches a unit of study, a workshop agenda, or simply a personal curiosity. Inside a portal, the tools, characters and scenery all reinforce one strand of science, which keeps the experience coherent and focused. Openings include the main science world itself and a maritime-themed area devoted to the St. Lawrence and the Great Lakes region.
Because the platform was created with educators in mind, it also serves as a classroom resource. Teachers can use the portals to support progression from primary to secondary levels, structuring a lesson, a workshop, or a farm or museum visit with content already prepared inside the virtual environment. Students, parents and school counsellors all have routes in, and bilingual material means families learning in French or English can explore together, which broadens the reach of the activities well beyond a single classroom.
Underlying the playful surface is a clear ambition: showing that knowledge itself has power. Carefully built scenarios, scavenger hunts, and themed exhibitions give the sense of unlocking places that would otherwise be inaccessible, whether a science centre, a dairy barn, or a museum collection. The design language supports that message with warm colour, airy spacing and approachable typography, so the world feels calm and welcoming rather than overwhelming, and the many small tasks inside it build confidence as young visitors keep exploring.
